Sandia High School took a doubleheader over Alamogordo High School Saturday. Both games were played at Albuquerque High School. The Matadors came back from a 4-0 deficit to win the first game as they scored two runs in the 6th inning. Sandia scored another run in the 7th inning before the Matador catcher blasted a two-run homer to give his team the walk off 5-4 victory.

Sandia enjoyed a superb pitching performance by Taylor Duree in the second game 13-1 victory over the Tigers. Duree tossed a complete game one-hitter. He fanned all three Alamogordo batters in the 4th inning. In the bottom of the 4th inning Tiger pitcher Josh Salcido struck out the first two Matadors but then he gave up a home run over the left centerfield fence.

The next batter was hit by a pitch. He eventually scored as the next two Matadors both hit balls to the outfield that the right fielder could not catch. Salcido walked the next hitter. But he got out of the inning by getting the third out on a pop up to the second baseman. In the top of the 5th inning the Tigers got a runner on first when he beat out a ground ball to second base. The first baseman tried a swipe tag but the umpire called the runner safe. He advanced to second base on a ground ball out.

The next Tiger singled hard to centerfield to get Alamogordo's first clean hit and only run batted in of the game. The runner on second advanced to third on a passed ball but Duree struck out the next batter to end the game. The Matador's JV team is now 4-1.
